Freedom Prep Charter School Families:

Thank you.

Thank you for your patience as we have moved to at-home instruction.  Thank you for your partnership in helping to ensure your child completes their schoolwork each day while at home. Thank you for your persistence.  This unprecedented situation will require that we continue to problem solve together so that your child continues to learn and grow during the coming days and weeks.

School is closed indefinitely.

As a result of the rising concern with the spread of the Coronavirus and in compliance with the Executive Order of Governor Murphy signed on March 21, 2020, Freedom Prep Charter School will remain closed until further notice. We will continue our instruction through remote and virtual learning until that time.  All school programs are also cancelled.

Academic materials must be dropped off on April 1st and new materials and technology will be distributed.

On Wednesday, April 1st, from 8:00am – 1:00pm, we need all families to attend the drive-through or walk-up academic collection and distribution session. Families must turn in their student’s paper packets on April 1st for them to receive credit.  Families will receive new packets at this time. The school will also begin to distribute laptops to support student learning online. Additional details are forthcoming.

Access to meals will continue.

On April 1st, from 8:00am – 1:00pm, we will also host a Farmer’s Market for families to receive free fresh fruits and vegetables. Effective today, March 23, 2020, meal distribution sites will operate on an abbreviated schedule. They will be open on Mondays and Thursdays from 10AM-12PM. On these days, students will be provided with shelf-stable meals for several days. Please visit the meal site that is closest to your home.  Below is the list of all meal sites across the city:

We will connect with families every week, sometimes multiple times a week, to access needs and provide support.

Please forgive us for any imposition, but we will call every week to ask specific questions regarding your family’s well-being, access to technology and meals, and your child’s academic progress.  Our desire is to support you and ensure your child is prepared for academic success while at home. Please feel free to reach out to your child’s principal, teacher, or social worker at any time for additional support.

Spring Break will still take place.

From Monday, April 13-17, 2020, no schoolwork will be assigned and virtual instruction will not take place. We hope that you enjoy the reprieve.

Please continue to check our social media pages and website for updates. Thank you, again, for your patience, partnership, and persistence under these challenging circumstances.  We will see you on April 1st.

With Gratitude,

Constance Faith Horton
